Today was one for the books! We stayed busy on this brutally cold day and had so much happen within such a short time! We wanted to tell you about it through a post!
The morning started at 6:15 with me waking up and awaking our 12-year-old. You see, we had a farmer’s market to attend and we had to leave the house by 7 to make it in time for set up. After waking up and, naturally, making myself MULTIPLE cups of coffee, I woke up my daughter then started placing our samples in our small portable cooler.
After finishing that and making sure those, along with our checkout tablet, cash box, and my endless coffee were loaded in the vehicle, I went to turn it on to warm it up a few minutes prior to leaving as the windshield was icy and frozen. Cue in encountering a small yet stressful problem….my husband’s car will not start…. like, not even a click or ignition turn over. We are talking a battery that was deader than a doornail. Alas, I walked my cold self back upstairs and guiltily woke up my still asleep husband. I told him of the issue that I was having and told him that I needed to move everything into my car ASAP! He grunted a reply that was incoherent while I walked back downstairs to start the shift.
A few minutes later he met me outside, hair all messy and still a little groggy. He was a champ that helped me move 175+ jars, two tables, two chairs, a banner, a heavy tote filled with table set-up items, along with multiple other small items. We moved everything in less than eight minutes, allowing Abby and me to be on our way by 6:55! I gently and gratefully gave my husband a kiss and left in the blistering cold.
Thankfully, our market went extremely well considering the cold and we were able to make a few contacts along the way! We met multiple businesses that were kindhearted and easy to approach, offering and taking advice from everyone we encountered. We have learned through all this growth and change that small businesses supporting other small businesses is a must and it helps you understand that you are not the only one dealing with hardships; you are not the only one celebrating victories during this hard time known as the COVID-19 epidemic.
We also were able to establish a newfound relationship with Marlin Farms out of San Antonio. We have partnered up with them to broaden both parties’ product footprint. We will officially be selling their local honey at our markets we attend on a continuous basis, and they will be doing the same with our products! We are happy to announce that we will now be attending markets in Rockport, TX through Marlin Farms! Be sure to stop by the markets we attend to get your honey as well! We would love to help them help you!
On top of all that happening today, we also aired our new episode with A Taste Of The Food Life “On The Road” hosted by Sergio Barrera! Sergio and I have been friends for a while now, and while he has hosted me on his show multiple times, this time was different! We did an episode in our commercial kitchen, giving you all a glimpse of what a day in the Lone Star Pure life might entail. We talked about all things jam, including our newly launched Jelly Of The Month Club! Sergio is one of those people that allow you to be yourself without judgement, and without questions. He has one of the best personalities you will ever know, and he is such a gentle soul. Susan, his camera woman (and a dang good one I might add…. Sergio, give her a raise!) was absolutely aPerfectmazing as well. Between her magnetic and bubbly personality, there is a kind and beautiful being. Lastly, his wife Jen, is someone that you drive to earn a friendship and her trust from. She has power beyond comprehension because of her stories and her love for life. I am beyond honored that I could become part of their circle and be someone they want to communicate with. Please be sure to go by their YouTube page and give them a hit on their subscribe button. It is the least that we could do for everything they have done for me.
We hope that over the next few days, everyone stays safe and warm. 2021 has brought us the remnants of 2020 through the form of weather, and we need to ensure that we do our part in keeping safe. As one last note, from Lone Star Pure to you all, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! WE LOVE YOU ALL!
